The Oppenheimer Memorial Trust is a philanthropic organisation that invests in public interest activities and causes.
The brief for their new offices was to create a warm, welcoming, inclusive space for workshops and meetings with diverse audiences and showcase their new brand identity while also paying homage to the original founders and legacy of the trust.
A fusion of classical, modernist and contemporary local design create an eclectic environment that suggests the comfort of home with the assurance of professional delivery. Bold patterns with a vibrant colour palette and rich textures create an elegant, sophisticated atmosphere.
The space planning took advantage of the linear shape of the office to create a journey of discovery and suggested activity. From the reception through to the lounge, library and a boardroom that can be divided with floor to ceiling stackable doors, guests and partners can collaborate with the team.
Beyond the larger public spaces smaller intimate spaces and offices with open plan desking provide working spaces for the core team. Access to natural light and expansive gardens run throughout the length of the space. The choice of feature furniture pieces, artwork and accessories supports local designers, manufacturers and artists which aligns with the client’s belief in investing to make a positive difference in South Africa.
