Design a new office space for Ondraf/Niras, reflecting its mission, environmental commitment, and field of expertise while creating a functional and welcoming work environment for its employees.
At the heart of Ondraf/Niras, the Belgian national agency for radioactive waste, our design philosophy harmoniously blends form and function. Inspired by Belgium's undulating landscape - which the agency protects through meticulous waste management - we have created an office space that echoes this commitment.
The centerpiece is a wave-shaped acoustic wall covering enveloping the main corridor, a visual representation of the agency's protective role. We have incorporated elements from Ondraf/Niras's core business: circular kitchens reminiscent of nuclear cooling towers, and molecular-inspired light fixtures composed of interconnected spheres.
The earthy tones and warm natural materials not only pay homage to the landscape but also create a welcoming environment for employees. This thoughtful integration of nature and nuclear science results in a workspace that is both functional and symbolically rich, reflecting Ondraf/Niras's vital mission in environmental management.
