Real estate developer UBM Kneuterdijk BV instructed Tétris Design & Build as part of a wider team to transform the former location of ABN AMRO in The Hague into the first Voco hotel in the Netherlands. Voco is the newest brand in the higher luxury segment of InterContinental Hotels Group. The iconic building dates from 1923 and is designed by H.F. Mertens. The impressive facade was the only part of the building that survived a major renovation in the late ‘90s. Behind the facade a modern complex appeared at the time. Tétris Design & Build realizes the interior for the Voco hotel and parking with a total of 15,000 sq.m., consisting of the layout of the building of 204 rooms including bathrooms, pubic areas including the lobby, the bar, the restaurant, and un upgrade on the parking. The project will be BREEAM certified. In addition to the high demands on the core construction for this certification, the architecture of the building also requires high-quality workmanship. Architecturally, the high atrium where the lobby will be located is an eye-catcher. The constructive connection in the new hotel between Kneuterdijk and Noordeinde also requires technical expertise. The project will be completed at the end of 2020 and Voco hotel will open its doors in Spring 2021.
