When approaching Tétris to renew its headquarters in Madrid, sustainability was a priority for Vodafone. The design of the office fit-out had to convey the values and ambitions of one of the world’s largest telecommunications and technology services companies.
Back in 2013, Vodafone was already aware that flexibility and wellbeing were becoming key factors for the happiness of its workforce as innovation quickly merged with interior design. Because of the complexity of the project and the impact it would have on the business and its people, they chose Tétris as a trusted partner. Leveraging our expertise in strategic design and the knowledge on designing and building more than 7,000 projects, our Design Studio came up with a solution that addressed all aspects for an innovative workplace focused on its people.
Vodafone Plaza is the main headquarter for Vodafone Spain. Located in Madrid, it comprises five buildings distributed around a central courtyard. It has 50,600 square meters of surface area and the capacity to accommodate 3,000 employees.
The new head office was designed and built by Tétris, which took specific measures to guarantee that the building is environmentally friendly and efficient:
- the installation of LED lamp lighting and installation of light control systems;
- using climate control equipment that does not contain ozone-depleting substances,
- installing office equipment and appliances that are “Energy Star” rated,
- Improvements in the efficiency of water usage;
- custom designed recyclable waste storage, among others.
In 2017, our Vodafone Plaza project achieved the Platinum LEED Certification - the ultimate certification for leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - all thanks to the measures adopted in order to save energy, reduce CO2 emissions and the use of sustainable materials.
