Convex faced a unique challenge in designing their new office. They sought a space that would reflect the essence of their company: a dynamic trading floor where all employees could be in direct contact with each other.
At the same time, there was a need for a versatile work environment that would support both collaboration and focused individual work.
Moreover, Convex's core business, trading in natural energy resources, had to be incorporated into the design in a subtle yet meaningful way.
To meet these challenges, we created an innovative office design that perfectly aligns with Convex's vision. The heart of the office is formed by a unique semi-circular arrangement of desks on the trading floor. This configuration maximizes interaction between employees without sacrificing space, creating a lively and productive work environment.
Around this central trading floor, we designed various workspaces and social areas. A large bar provides space for joint celebrations and informal meetings, while small meeting rooms offer privacy for digital meetings. These spaces are strategically positioned to take advantage of the spectacular view over Amsterdam, contributing to an inspiring work environment.
Throughout the design, we subtly referenced Convex's core activities. Solar energy is symbolized by warm, soothing zones that invite relaxation and creative thinking. Water, representing clarity and focus, is reflected in the work and meeting facilities where concentrated work can be done. We emphasized the element of air in the open circulation spaces, creating a sense of freedom and movement.
These themes come together in a carefully chosen color palette of dark blue and warm gray tones, inspired by the natural elements Convex works with. This palette connects the different spaces and creates a harmonious, professional look throughout the office.
