When RS Components, a leading manufacturer of electronic, electrical and industrial components, asked us to carry out the design and renovation of their new headquarters just outside Milan, the main requirement was to have workspaces that put people and their well-being at the centre, encouraging flexible working conditions and expressing a sense of community by enhancing their new visual identity. From the design phase, the choice of furnishing solutions and site operations, we worked closely with the client, directly involving employees and making them an active part of the change and progress of the company.
Brand identity, people, smart office, technology, sustainability and collaboration are the key factors that inspired us to bring the project design to life. The new workspace is characterised by a dynamic environment that encourages collaboration and interaction between employees with the aim of creating a sort of synergistic contamination between the various company functions, optimising work processes and consolidating people's belonging to a single work team.
In a perspective of smart working and flexibility, the offices are configured in work units, with no closed offices dedicated to management, who now carry out their activities in open space with the rest of the employees. In order to ensure optimal use of the working space, we have installed state-of-the-art technology and created numerous support spaces of various sizes, such as phone booths for short telephone conversations, and meeting rooms that can be reconfigured as required. These different types of solutions can be used for both individual and team work, guaranteeing different levels of privacy according to the needs of the various work groups.
The space is completed by a large made-to-measure break area with a kitchen and informal inclusive corners such as a relaxation area furnished with soft coloured cushions that brighten up the environment and a play area with a play station and table football for moments of leisure.
For the selection of furniture and finishes we have selected ergonomic and functional operative solutions and flexible accessories that can be easily reconfigured. The materials recreate a domestic and welcoming atmosphere, emphasised by the choice of wooden elements and the presence of plants and natural vegetation that give a "green" touch to the whole office. To convey the identity of the brand, we opted for colour combinations in bright shades of red and purple that visually recall the palette of the company logo.
