Socialpoint, a leading mobile video game design company, tasked Tétris with the complex challenge of transforming their office into an inviting hub for their digitally native workforce. The challenge was to create a captivating environment that merged gaming and work, allowing freedom and creativity to flow unhindered. This necessitated an understanding of the diverse needs of a highly creative team. The space needed to balance the real and virtual worlds: an open, natural space conducive to concentration, and enclosed monochrome areas designed for collaboration. Adding another layer of complexity, the office’s design had to encompass the vibrant essence of Barcelona—the city of the company’s origin.
Our approach was rooted in neuroarchitecture, focusing on biophilic design principles that incorporate fractal patterns, and authentic materials. This created an office that mirrored the natural and virtual interplay essential to Socialpoint's ethos. The open space was imagined as a Mediterranean cityscape, featuring rounded white architecture, semi-circular arches, and lush vegetation. This design forged an illusion of an open playscape, using natural elements to enhance focus and connection to reality.
Conversely, the monochrome collaboration areas provided a flexible, virtual-like environment that blurred spatial boundaries. Here, adaptable furniture facilitated endless configurations, fostering teamwork and creativity. Each area was infused with corporate colors tailored to evoke specific emotions: green in open spaces to lessen fatigue, yellow in agile meeting rooms to boost creativity, and red in focus rooms to sharpen attention.
Dynamic lighting environments were designed to adapt to users’ needs, while varied spatial situations, like cozy cocoons and stepped seating, encouraged exploration and interaction. Community spaces, including the agora, cafeteria, and gym, along with amenities such as a physiotherapy room, were strategically placed to generate a sense of community.
We infused local Catalonian craftsmanship throughout the space with hand-dyed ceramics, artisanal rattan elements, and custom graphics merging game imagery with Barcelona’s architectural emblems. Patterns, reminiscent of the city’s hydraulic tiles, celebrated Socialpoint’s heritage. The result was a vibrant, playful, and immersive space that transformed work into a game-like experience, boosting creativity and making Socialpointers feel connected to a greater purpose.
