The brief from Lobster Ink was to create a space that was inspirational and functional for their teams.
Developers and digital analysts need quieter spaces to focus or take online calls, while content creators need group activity spaces to workshop and brainstorm ideas. Break-out spaces had to encourage connection, incorporate a sense of playfulness and creativity while providing opportunities for rewarding interactions.
The workspace plan repurposed much of the clients existing furniture and used the unusual shape of the space to create quieter work zones at one end of the office with interactive collaborative spaces closer to the kitchen at the other end of the floorplate. Merging the bright brand colours of the two separate companies in one space was resolved by representing them in softer turquoise and apricot highlights against a charcoal background. The result is a glowing, welcoming environment.
The neighborhood that the office is situated in is a re-gentrified hub of digital freelance developers, content creators and makers. It was important to echo this in the interiors as it provides a refreshing authenticity and connection for the talent that both businesses rely on. All of the accessories and art were sourced from second-hand bric-a-brac stores in the area. In the words of one of the staff, “we work in a neighbourhood where everything tells a story, which is what we do every day, storytelling, so it fits for us”
