How Siemens' relocation enhanced work experience, revitalized its teams and created a more attractive work environment?
With the decision to move its historic offices from Saint-Denis to the CB 21 Tower in La Défense and reduce its lease area, Siemens entrusted Tétris with the design of its 2,500 sqm non-assigned workstations spread across 3 floors.
Tétris collaborated with European teams in Germany and France, each with different sensitivities but a shared objective: enhancing Siemens employees' work experience while adhering to the New Normal design guidelines.
The group's design charter incorporates flexible office arrangements and was reworked in 2022 through collaboration with Tétris Lyon's design teams, ensuring adaptation to the French market and specific spatial usage requirements.
Our team was committed to tackling this challenge by creating a workspace that is functional, ergonomic, and tailored to Siemens employees' various work activities.
Our main focus was to understand specific employee expectations and habits in order to provide a wide range of diverse workspace typologies and reduce the number of workstations.
Tétris designed shared collaborative spaces in a coworking concept to cater to a broad range of needs. The advantages of this layout? Allowing each employee to make the most of this new workspace, even during peak times. Various alternatives were proposed, including a variety of quiet spaces for focus, dedicated areas for physical meetings, isolated pods, and agile meeting rooms acting as think tanks.
To highlight the optimization of office layout based on usage, we integrated for example an IT and facility management kiosk adjacent to the social space, ensuring proximity to employee flow. The top floor was also fully designed as a collaborative space, promoting coworking and allowing all Siemens employees to enjoy the view.
It was important for Siemens to have offices with their own identity while adhering to the New Normal design guidelines. Tétris' design concept brought dynamism and graphic elements with vinyl lines that evoke movement and flow. The employees and their appropriation of space were at the heart of our priorities. The mandate was to create pleasant, accessible spaces that also evolve over time. Therefore, we predominantly proposed neutral colors with occasional vibrant accents. Our Tétris architect developed a completely new color palette that seamlessly integrated into the New Normal guidelines: colors softened and nuanced, while incorporating Siemens' signature turquoise green to echo the DNA of the company. We also brought nature into the offices through custom wallpapers created by Tétris and emphasizing biophilic design elements.
Furthermore, Tétris also provided a portion of the furniture solution, ensuring coherence and unity with the architectural design of the offices.
The outcome of this project is a resounding success, with a survey conducted by Siemens revealing that 94% of employees at the CB21 Tower are satisfied. A successful move to La Défense for Siemens !
