The brief from Gold Fields, one of the world's largest mining firms, was to renovate their executive client facing and boardroom meeting areas to be more flexible, to provide for virtual meetings and collaborative ways of working while presenting a sophisticated aesthetic.
The space needs to be able to scale from smaller team meetings or coffee conversations to executive board events and town halls.
The concept of the design focused on multi-use functionality with high level detailing and furniture to create an aspirational executive and client-facing space.
Guests are welcomed into a lounge leading onto an outside patio with a central serving counter with bar stools for quick coffee meetings. Glass enclosed meeting rooms with stacking doors flank the entrance into the 18-seater executive boardroom. When needed the glass walls can be opened to provide space for larger gatherings and town halls.
Warm timber paneling, original South African art works with luxurious engineered stone serving tops and brass inlays on the serving counter create an atmosphere of prosperity.
Library shelving hosting the artefacts of the company’s heritage proudly showcases the origins of the company for internal and external audiences.
